I thought I’d share this today…
…since January, I’ve had 12 private counseling sessions to look after my mental health and wellbeing. I don’t post it all over social media but I do tell people when it comes up. Having a private space to open up, to talk, to be heard, to deal with difficult emotions is an amazing process.
On top of this, I’ve been on a men’s retreat, done some yoga, journaled, played sports, meditated, read helpful books and had lots of rich conversations with trusted people.
I’m sharing this because for all of us, looking after ourselves and emotional wellbeing will be different.

On World Mental Health Day,
here are 3 practical things you can do.
1. Connect with someone close you and show them you care (a friend, a loved one, a colleague, a family member). Whilst we are thinking about the world, it’s often the people closest to us that could be hurting without us even realising.
2. Do something positive for yourself today. Go for a walk, do some yoga or exercise, journal your thoughts/feelings, open up to someone, see a counselor or therapist, call a trustee person. Helping the world starts with looking after ourselves. Take care of you.
3. Talk about what mental health actually means. It’s amazing it’s become such a well known and used phrase, but it’s meaningless unless it means something to you. Find a way to understand your own mind, emotions out outlook on the world. We all have mental and physical health, make it make sense for you.
Lastly, don’t forget, all of this is human 😁😂😊😑😕😖😢😭
